When is it safe to remove insulation from my greenhouse, I have loads of seeds planted in there?

Hi Plantman and welcome to the forum

I wouldn't remove mine for a few weeks yet, although, as with all things gardening, it will depend on where you are located I guess.

I'm itching to get rid of mine too plantman but like Piskie says I will wait a couple more weeks yet, any seedlings you have growing will be needing maximum light now but we are in for a few more frosty nights yet

And welcome to the forums

Hello Plantman, If it's clean and not impeding light I too would leave it, even 'till the hawthorn's in blossom.

Hi plantman and welcome from me too
Mine will stay under bubble-wraps for a while longer yet...it's still very cold here, and most of my greenhouse plants are still wrapped in fleece

This may be a stupid question, but how do you wrap a greenhouse in bubble wrap?

Well mine's a bit "Heath Robinson" WLF. I just cut lengths of bubble wrap (pinched from a huge roll that my son has for ebay stuff...), make holes in it, and attach it to the glazing bars in the greenhouse with bits of string. Looks a right mess,I hasten to add...

There are clips and gadgets for fixing it on the inside WLF but mine is sort of adapted here and there,

You can see a bit of mine behind these seedlings

Glad someone else uses that method

The answer lies in Northumberland soil.

So you line the inside with it, sides and roof? Does it make a big difference to the heating costs?

Very big difference WLF also plants around the sides don't get frosted through the glass, I do have an heater which I set on frostguard so it kicks in if it gets near 0....but I find it an economical method even this winter...so far

it's the first year I've used bubblewrap all round, and it's certainly made a difference

I love the bubble-wrap on/bubble-wrap off times, it marks two very different parts of the year and gives me a change to clean the greenhouse
