I bought these the other day £20 I was given some S&J's last year but they left a tatty cut on my roses. There was another pair in the shop £49.95 Who would think that there was such a difference?

They look like works of art. I hope they are as good as they look. My cheap ones are not working well either.

The thing I like most is the handles, so easy in the hand and the lock is sensible too.

I’ve been drooling over a £60 pair of secateurs, every part is replaceable. The old saying “You get what you pay for” is so true but I can not justify that kind of money.

My secateurs work, they are not brilliant but they do the job. A £60 pair of secateurs would make the job a pleasure, I’d look for things to prune rather than “herumph” it’s that time of year again.

I still can’t justify it though, and nobody I know loves me that much.

I bought a new pair of Felco No2 from an Ebay gardening shop at much less than recommended price, had them about 3 years now and wouldn't be without them

WOW, I’ve just had a look at those on line, my garden centre must be making a huge profit on them, they are the same make I was after.

They are worth the money then Steve?

Do you ever get despondent?

Last year I really felt I was making headway with my garden, I was getting to grips with planting with colours and shapes and it was all beginning to come together.

I’d moved plants around and paid attention to leaf shape and colour and it was paying off. Then came the winter and the promise of beds that really worked lay in brown crispy piles on the soil.

So what did I do? Retail therapy.

I just bought myself a pair of Felco secateurs. Steve recommended Felco No.2 so I did a little research and found Felco No. 6 are the same specification except they are made for gardeners with little hands.

I little more searching on line and I found a pair for £24.99 including free next day delivery (MRP £46.99).

They haven’t cured the problems in my garden but cutting back all that has died will be far more pleasurable.

That is really good WF. It makes me wish my birthday wasn't in December.

I wish you hadn't said that WF. It has made me think I am. I do get fed up with a birthday near Christmas, mostly because I don't get out to dinner. Everywhere is full up with Christmas works and office parties and are not very caring about the food.

Now I wonder what made you say that?

You are worth it, treat yourself. If that’s not convinced you try some of these.

I bet you don’t treat yourself to “a little something” very often, so once in a while is quite acceptable.

Your birthday is too close to Christmas so a little treat during the year readdresses the balance.

They’re almost half price now and might not be in December so it makes sense to buy them now.
